My background:
Cofounded an IoT SaaS company for energy O&M companies for asset optimisation using condition monitoring and preventive analytics. Bootstrapped it from 2 cofounders to a team of 13 and over 100 customers with 5000 energy assets connected to the platform over from 2016 to 2019. My primary role was to handle the product development, prioritizing features and customer requests and leading the product overall.

Also worked with Oracle for about 3 years in Bangalore with Analytical Applications team as Technical Analyst.

About to complete my Masters in Business Analytics and Project Managment from University of Connecticut next month.

I am trying to get into PM roles in the US since last 3 months, but no luck. I do not have any formal certification or PM experience in a major organisation.

Any suggestions on how to go forward?

  • Whatโ€™s the issue? Youโ€™re applying and not getting responses? Not clearing interviews?

  • Are you authorized to work in the US?

    • For clarification, authorized means that you have a work visa (e.g., H1B), green card, or citizenship. But if thatโ€™s the case, then nvm.

PM is an extremely competitive role and no-name experience on the resume doesnโ€™t help. From what you are saying, youโ€™re going for quantity over quality. Focus on a few companies/positions and try to get your foot in the door, instead of fanning the resumes out.

I am going to start my F1 OPT soon and it is also a work authorization, am I wrong?

What youโ€™re saying is correct. As much as Iโ€™m trying to get into a few select companies, Iโ€™m also trying quantity considering the situation currently. If no name experience is not very helpful, how do you recommend making the resume shine out?

      Thanks
