How is working in Canoo? I got an offer and plan to join soon. I saw lots of negative comments but would like verify if possible, thanks! #auto #Canoo #offer
What team/role?
Lot of attrition.
could you provide any details you know?
I’d stay away. Culture is terrible, CEO is an idiot. I’m genuinely surprised this guy was able to even run a company before. The company literally goes through people like nothing. Like when you join note who is there and see in 3 months if they are still there. Also all the titles are extremely inflated and will and Should not hold up, in legit companies.
I’ve heard others refer to the company as a ‘sinking ship’. Is that how most employees feel, or do they believe in the company and products, but just hate the new leadership team?
Honestly if they just hired like different exec I think the company will survive and do well. They just picked the boomer execs that haven’t done anything significant with tech based companies or even OEM companies. They are not qualified for this and even the qualified ones left already.
People are nice, but lot of uncertainties. I think it's a good spring board for what you want, culture is definitely different than traditional company or startups. It seems like the management is running in all directions and the company is still trying to figure out what they want to achieve eg: a tech company or an automotive company. FWIW, I joined recently so might be a little biased.
My recommendation is to stay away if you have a competing offer. As one person said, Canoo is most certainly a sinking ship if things don't turn around soon. Culture is heavily dependent on what team you're on. But culture from the top is terrible. Leadership doesn't know anything about a car company and things are a mess. Canoo does pay well so that's a plus but that could always change quickly since it's still a pre-revenue company so cash burn is a real thing. Talent is leaving left and right and I'm pretty sure it will continue. If you've already accepted the offer and given your notice to your current employer, I'd recommend you look at this opportunity as a stepping stone to something else and keep your resume updated at all times ready to apply elsewhere. To be fair, I've had a good experience so far, but I don't see a light at the end of this tunnel.
- Had irreplaceable, sentimental things stolen from my desk. - Textbook definition of a hostile takeover after the SPAC merger. - Everyone who I respected has moved on.
Sounds like things aren’t going well. Is the high turnover impacting production targets?
It’s rough out here
I have a good friend at the company. She likes it there. Although I keep hearing about people quitting. They lost a lot of the management and exec this past year. Personally, I think things are looking kinda sketchy with the company. I heard the comp is pretty decent though. What did they offer you?
130k base + 60k stock over 4 years it’s a remote job, not sure how to evaluate the offer
Sounds about right for Canoo. I think it’ll be worth it to try it out considering it’s fully remote, which I consider a great benefit. If things don’t work out, you’ll have plenty of other options in the area. I don’t think you’ll have trouble going elsewhere later since the industry is getting pretty hot
