I’ve been contacted by an Amazon HM offering to boomerang without any interviews. Considering to go for it and relocate to the US at the same time as I’m currently based in Germany (I’ve worked at Amazon for a few years, so I’m eligible for L1 visa).
I visited NYC before the pandemic and simply loved it. The energy, the restaurants, the musicals on Broadway, and the limitless dating options. I’m 30 years old and single.
Is it still the same or at least still great? I keep reading about rising crime, people moving away, and stores closing. How bad is it? I’ve also read about the flooding last year and these disasters are predicted to happen more often going forward. Also taxes are almost as high as in Germany.
Is it still worth it? Is nightlife and dating still great? Does it make sense to consider alternatives like Seattle? I found it boring when I visited but maybe it still makes sense just to save on taxes and COL?

Broadway is struggling but still great shows at MSG .. haven't personally seen an increase in crime but I'm mostly in UES
Congratulations. NYC is a pretty great place, especially if you can afford to stay midtown/downtown Manhattan.
I still wouldn't live anywhere else in the US.
