    This being during pandemic, I doubt if the really needed access to any confidential data to come to a conclusion that their company would do well. The article mentions the chats but does not confirm whether audit history showed access to DBs. Else it might be just a breach of company trading window policy leading to insider trading accusations.

      Yes agree on the trade window being closed part and that does make it illegal. Not sure if they had any confidential data. If they did and they intended to maliciously profit, I’d assume they’d be smarter than using their company slack
