Nextdoor offer - questions about eng culture, compensation
I have a verbal offer for a senior swe equivalent position at nextdoor. I'm a believer in long term prospects of nextdoor but would love to get some additional information from the employees.
I am talking to the ads and platform teams. I am leaning towards the ads team where my role requires building some full-stack ads tools. How is the culture and WLB in the ads engineering team? Is it a good team to join ?
It seems that a strike price increase for the options is imminent and I won't be able to join before this happens :( Are employees bullish on the long term value of the stock options and the growth trajectory of the company?
The recruiter has not provided me the exact TC details of my offer yet but I will update this post once I get that.
Any input is appreciated.

Employees are very bullish ever since sarah took over.
Ads team has a good roadmap for 2021 ( at least in my opinion )
On the platform team through its more about scaling, maintaining and updating systems and infrastructure. So you will expand your skillset in a different way. So it depends on where you want to take your career.
Honestly WLB is totally controlled and managed by you as an adult. No one forces you to do than what you want and what you can. Overall WLB is good but there are times when people spend long hours but nothing worth burning out.
All the best!
I value WLB at this stage but I also feel that the projects on the ads' team horizon are impactful and would lead to a lot of learning.
I will ask about any product teams that are hiring currently.
Don’t join!!
