I’ve applied to Facebook through a referral. Recruiter reached out to me and say that they are more focused on senior developers now and do not have any other opportunites available for now.

Is this true? So confused...
Should I try applying again hoping to get another recruiter?

  • Focusing on seniors is not hiring freeze , there are millions of college grads and juniors applying for fb , currently fb recruiters and onboarding are busy with onboarding those who had offers , so it makes sense to slow down parts of the system - getting junior engineers is the easiest, it’s a pipeline that will flow the moment you open the tap, seniors is hard and takes time to rebuild the pipeline and getting 1 Senior in fb takes a lot of interviews .

  • 3 years of industry experience and going to be virtual on-site in few weeks. Don't think they have a firing freeze

  • During spring we often freeze all junior/new grads hires (at least engineering) until next fall. This is not a new practice, and has nothing to do with coronavirus

This. FB is one of the earliest in terms of recruiting. I’m shocked people are still applying to new grad roles this late. I think Google’s new grad application closed in 2019

No Hiring Freeze here. Just a position looking for more senior YOE
