Tipping etiquette for door dash/Uber eats/instacart
A lot of us are fortunate enough to have food and groceries delivered to us at our homes. I come from a country that doesn't have a tipping culture so I was really unclear of how much to tip.
It's clear that a lot of these people who deliver food are barely making ends meet and they will never catch up to inflation.
On the other hand part of the reason these people have to rely on tips is that the companies are not paying enough to begin with. A lot of people say that it's not their job to ensure that these people are getting paid well.
But at the end of the day I'm coming to the conclusion that I don't want to make this into a political decision but a moral one.
How much do you guys usually tip in percentage of the total order whenever you get food or groceries delivered to your house?

By your logic they would need to earn what, 100k a year delivering food?
Hi, I just took your order at a cash register. Mind tipping me 20%?! Pick up your food over there, drinks over there and don’t forget to bus your own table!
I just don’t get it. I delivered pizzas in college and did not expect it to be a full time job. I was busy educating myself for a BETTER JOB. The fucking nut jobs on here thinking delivering a fucking sack of food from point A to point B are worth a 70k salary are incredibly out of touch.
One odd time a lady drive 15 minutes and nagged me the whole drive about how far I made her drive and then gave me attitude as she dropped my stuff off. I didn't respond to any of it besides a "thank you" as she stormed off.
I drunkenly tipped 110% with the compliment of "shut up" and to this day can't figure out my reasoning.
