I got an offer for a google SWE L4 position ~150 base, 230K stock, with ~3 years of experience. This is about 220K a year with bonus, excluding refreshers.
Anyone know what happened here? This is way lower than what I currently make. Google also said this was the max they could go. I’m kind of disappointed, I see some good offers on blind here for G, and thought they could at least match my current comp.
Did I just negotiate poorly, or is it my lack of experience? Not sure how I could have negotiated better because I’m literally walking away due to comp, even though the team seems real good. Maybe they just don’t like me!

When I received an offer L4 in Bay Area, it was 155 base, 160k stock, 20k sign on. Your offer seems fine.
You’re over 200k TC with just 3 years of work experience.. chase high TC but I really think spending time on blind is skewing up the perception of average.
It seems like the initial offers can be underwhelming but I’m wondering if they ramp you up so to speak.
L4 band starts lower than what this person posted. No state income tax and lower cost of living as compared to the Bay probably affects TC offer as well. Also, literally 3 YOE. I haven’t seen many Blind posts at 300+ TC for someone at G with sub 5 YOE personally.
