Spoke to a recruiter and told him I was interested in interviewing for Front End/UI engineering roles, and was suggested to interview for a UX Engineer. I did a search on here but couldn't find much information.

Anyone have an idea what the difference is between a Front End Software Engineer and a UX Engineer at Google?

What should I expect for a technical phone screen/onsite interview? Are they algorithms heavy like a standard SWE role?

No algo as standard SWE, but you’re still expected to know how to build components from ground up in JavaScript.

There’s still some algo components but they’re only related to UI.

We do some backend development ya. I think mostly all SWEs are expected to be able to navigate their way around a backend. That said, it's like a 60/40 split probably where you're just doing work on your own specific backends that power your UI for the most part.

Some teams have a hard split between fe and be though

I got algo for UXE onsite interview by a SWE and that was last year. Good to see that they’ve changed things. 🤔

I went through the onsite interview a few months back. It was really hard to find any information on what to study. I kept my notes from all rounds and started putting together a platform for UXE's to use as a study guide. I'm trying to gauge how much interest there would be in something like this.

Here is the MVP https://codefuse.netlify.com/. I plan to start adding more exercises if I can generate enough interest.

I have an interview next week for the full loop. I got to skip the technical phone screen. But finding example questions is impossible. I have just been studying on LeetCode.

UXEs at google only build static sites. Boring as hell.
