Hi, As i needed vaccinations record to apply for GC, i went to ucla health. Today i recheck my Aetna balance, and realise that they billed the insurance company 546$. It is ridiculous amount (office visit alone 400$, flu shot 60$, immunization admin 80$) I think it is ridiculous amount given that i was there just for flu vaccinations. Why they charged me for something i didn't need. How i can fight back. For that bill, the plan paid 368$, 269$ goes toward deductible which is covered by my HSA acc. Does it means because it is in Aetna network, the actual bill is 269$ only and amazon provides me with 500$ HSA, i dont need to pay anything? Even if bill 269$, it is still ridiculous high and unacceptable given that i only need a flushot and why i pay 269$ for a flushot.
You know that you can get free or nearly free flu shots at most retail pharmacies right? Also the flu shot isn’t part of the required immunization battery so I’m a bit confused what that has to do with your GC application.
I was there to take a MMr, tdap shots as well, but they dont have that vaccines. Which i couldn't understand is why there is cost even for office visit and separate cost for immunisation admin. It is just like u go to restaurant where in the menu, steak cost 30$, but u paid 300$ just to enter the restaurant and 60$ for the food to be served.
Yeah you got screwed, sorry. I’m curious what UCLA charges if you tell them you don’t have insurance. I remember having to get several vaccines before doing some overseas traveling and it was maybe $150 but I always ask for the cash price and the insurance price.
Please work on your tenses a little bit. Just a side suggestion.
I got my flu shots for GC paperwork for $25 exactly. Learn to ask about cost before doing anything
Again, I’m curious where it says a flu shot is required for GCs. The flu shot is not a mandatory vaccine. It’s also highly ineffective.
I remember we were required to take it so we did.
And for the same reason, in US, always ask the price before getting anything done medically related
Many times they can't tell you cuz the ones billing you aren't the ones facing you. It's like "you have to take it and then the bill can tell you" exactly like "you have to vote pass it to see what it is"
You can’t fight back. Pay your deductible and relax. Plenty of cheaper places to get immunizations. Use your healthcare plan to find cost effective clinics. A flu shot is practically free at most Walgreens.
American doctors and hospitals are corrupt. But stupid American kept twiddling insurance and thought it's insurance fault and ThisCare or ThatCareForAll can solve the problem. No it's fking not. Insurance is only passing what the doctors and hospitals charge you to you, in some way or another.
It started from education. I am surprised that cost of becoming a Doctor is not only time, one’s passion, but MONEY. It can easily cost 200k 300k to become a Doctor + 10 - 12 years of your life.
You think they only allow medical education AFTER college graduation and that is just a random action? EVERY doctor wasted 4 yrs time and tuition and you all are paying for that, plus premium. They MADE the medical cost high. Yet stupid American thought the insurance is wrong.
Always ask how much it costs before using the service Sometimes insurance provider customer care don't even know the details. Health care and Insurance in US is rip off
Insurance is not the problem. It's like you shouldn't blame your credit card for inflated price of something you are billed.
How is insurance not the problem? Nothing is transparent. When I called once they said the same test under diff code is covered but this one is not. How the f will i know that? Customer care is clueless most of the time too. Multiple Representatives have given diff answer to same question.
Welcome to US
Be thankful it wasn't $5k
I think it's ridiculous to pay SWEs $300k+ as well. I also think it's ridiculous that a tear down house is $1M+ in Bay Area.
No it's not ridiculous. SWE is also high income in any other country. Doctors otoh aren't.
I think you meant the other way. Doctors and lawyers are typically highly paid and respected everywhere. Coders on the other hand are seen as comparable to IT support outside Bay Area and US
