Shout out to Facebook messenger team

Just wanted to say awesome work, been using it daily, whenever I leave work I share my location so my wife can track me (in case of an accident). There is some stupid shit (like I'm never going to use it to send money, please stop assuming I want to), but otherwise it really is a great piece of work. UX is fantastic, never crashes, doesn't suck up a lot of performance though still have to delete conversations every 6months or so.

Anyways that's all! Just wanted to say thanks!

Wow, this is hands down the nicest thing I've seen on Blind.

Here's a thank you cookie for making this a less shitty place.

Sending payments is actually pretty sweet...near instant send/receive from your bank acct. way better than Venmo

@999 yeah but what value do you get out of it, if you're not making payments

I am! I actually use it a ton. It's just that my spending cannot be bigger than my input.

I can also add and remove a debit card for especially big one-off payments larger than my balance

Yep agree one of the nicest things said.

OP, do you use android or iOS. If you use iOS why not use find friends app by Apple which shares the location indefinitely.

I'm on Motorola Z play and it works great for me

If you're on pixel, your android version might be too new.

I love FBM too except it keeps trying to be Snapchat. I wish it would stop. I also hate that Facebook tries to force marketplace on me

  • SMS integration on Android is great. Also voice and video calling are so much better than Hangouts, Skype, etc. Props to the RTC team in Seattle.

I love the voice and audio calling on Facebook messenger. My girlfriend and I use it more than any other app for multiple reasons, but mostly that one. It's way more convenient living ear the border since I spend some of my time in Mexico too. No worrying about international dialing codes or anything.

WhatsApp is okay. But they could take a lesson from Facebook and realize that it's better to let you have the app in multiple phones tied to the same account. It's very annoying having two different whatsapp instances depending on which phone I'm using. I even have a Google voice number, but it won't let you out that in both. :(

Have always loved the product but I sure wish they'd stop pushing stories or "day" so fucking hard. Just stop.

My theory is that they're trying to dilute the real time 24/hr story market to take down Snapchat. I think WhatsApp even has that feature now, too.

Yeah I've personally hardly seen the use of snapchat, sorry maybe it's more for the younger millenials and current teens. I find it hard to use, and tedious.
