Amazon SR Program Manager (Non-Tech) Expectation

Apr 14 26 Comments

Currently awaiting my loop with Amazon (scheduled for May 2). The role is a SR Pgm Mgr Non-Tech and I'm curious about TC.

Gave a band expectation of $145-160k and the recruiter said that was 100% doable. Double guessing myself now thinking I may have lowballed based on her response.

In reality, any idea what I can expect in terms of RSU and Sign-on?

YOE: 16
Location: Dallas, Tx
Current TC: ~145k

Thx in advance

rule #1: never give a number when asked by recruiter. $160 is way too low for Sr Pgm imo

What kind of program manager? Some program managers (nontech) are making 250k to 350k.

Search for PgM offers. It’s 160k-198k for L6 Senior PgM at Amazon. The range you gave is for L5 and I don’t believe senior PgM is L5 (could be wrong).

    • Is 160-198 TC or base? I didn't ask what level and they never offered that info. Should I have asked and can I still discuss that with my Lead Recruiter prior to the loop?

Those are TC numbers. Amazon comp structure is fucked. You get a sign on bonus for year 1 and year 2 since you pretty much have no stock vesting (5% and 15%). It’s not a traditional sign on bonus.

  • You made a mistake giving a lowball range, but they will still give you a reasonable offer within the band, so i wouldnt worry too much. I know someone who asked for 100TC and was offered ~190 anyways. Also, I refused to give a range during my interviews, thinking I'd get ~130-150, offer came in at ~250 lol.

Def lowballed. It won’t matter, they still have to keep it in the bad for that level and you can always say you have researched the positions pay and then tell them X. You won’t be able to get top end of band but you can get mid still. TC prob 220-250k I believe
