started in China, spread to Europe first, much later to the usa. why is it then that usa has most cases world wide? stronger virus in the usa? can’t fathom this!

We do the most testing in the US. I have clients in Europe, have many friends there too. The amount of testing is far less because the systems are overloaded.

@msft51 USA has done the 3rd most testing per million people behind Israel and UK.

That's actually very impressive considering the geographical surface area of the US compared to those other 2 tiny countries.

  • 1. The usa has the third largest population. 2. China spent six weeks from first report to identify pathogens and lockdown the whole country. In US, senators are selling stock, playing impeachment drama. Nobody care people dying in Life Care Center. 3. Chinese are not allowed to leave their community during lock down. American are partying on beaches. 4. It’s not “spread to europe first”, Seattle’s first case was identified at the end of Jan, and spreads the whole county.

Askjfdkl is at least somewhat right. The US has done more testing than any other country (with the possible exception of china). This is why we have the most confirmed cases. It is very likely that both Spain and Italy have more cases than we do. To be clear, I'm not saying the US has handled this well, just that we objectively have done more tests than other countries.

That is from March 20th. https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2020/03/27/coronavirus-testing-us/ is more recent. And because we are talking about total cases, I am talking about total tests done. If we want to talk about each of these things per million people, us would have significantly less confirmed cases than many European countries.

You can also check out the Wikipedia page on this whcih seems to be more updated. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_testing . You can see 826k in the US. Every other country is below 500k. Numbers from 1.5 weeks ago are very out of date here which is why the link you posted isn't a true representation currently, and why it does seem like Spain probabaly has tested a lot more than listed on the Wikipedia page I linked
