deeply confused about covid-19 in the usa

started in China, spread to Europe first, much later to the usa. why is it then that usa has most cases world wide? stronger virus in the usa? can’t fathom this!

In UK 5.62% of the population is confirmed.
In US 7.77% of the population is confirmed.
They are pretty simliar.
One of the big differences between UK and US, imo, is population density. The other is a lot of people in the US don't want to be tested unless they have very serious problems, which makes sense of course, there is no reason to run out like Chicken Little and get tested unless you are experiencing significant symptoms, which are rare.
That's actually very impressive considering the geographical surface area of the US compared to those other 2 tiny countries.
