Can I drive on my valid India licence in US?

Been in the US 8 months now and haven't gotten around getting my license yet. Can I still drive using my valid indian license?

DMV website says that I can drive if I am a visitor but need to get a license if I am a resident - not sure how "resident" is defined. I am currently on L1A visa.

    Please learn your stateโ€™s driving laws before you start driving.

    So many foreigners (and citizens as well) I know donโ€™t know basic stuff, such as not cruising in the left lane or knowing when to yield.

    I think u can upto a year. But why not get a DL?

  • I've been pulled over in CA once while driving with an indian driving license.. the cop asked how long i've been in CA and i said for a year but started driving recently. also asked if i'm working on my CA dl and i said i'm going to give my written test next week and was let go without any problems.. so you should be fine imo
