Guys, the title says it all.
I am stuck being mediocre all my life and always wanted to come out but not able to :-(, No matter how much I wanna try I am the laziest person on this planet, I prefer to eat but not study that's a fact, lazy ass.
I am a single earner in a family of 6 people and always I take very long to change a job and stuck at the bottom of the pay scale always.
From inside my conscience always says that I can do better but I just work hard for a couple of days and then give up. My family is very supportive and my wife is a rockstar she never poked and always say you can continue doing LC but I am just a BS guy who doesn't want to work hard, always browsing and reading new things but not meaningful for a job per se.
Please, guys, this one means a lot as my kids' future, aging parents, and my own retirement, I can't fu$k them all. I wanna slog and work on one SINGLE thing (could be MERN, programming languages, data structures, or combinations of any of other tech skills) to make our life happier, I wanna be proud of myself.
Tell me how I can be a good version of myself and bring in more $$ in our home, be my angel this Christmas.

After a little while, it wouldn’t feel like work anymore. I assume you don’t have a wealth of time on your hands.
Then you have a lot of years of experience so I assume you only have to brush up on system design and not start from scratch.
It’s about building momentum so don’t try to rush into doing crazy number of things to prepare for at once. Start little and grow as you get comfortable. I believe you only need 3-6 months to change your life if you really want to.
Remember every day why you’re doing it. Place pictures of your family at your desk if you have to. Remember it is a commitment, and a commitment is doing what you said you will do even after the good feeling you had in the moment when you said you will commit to doing it has left you.
Start small. Build momentum. Remember why you’re trying to change your life.
Did leetcode, had performance fear from Meta because I couldn’t clear it during my university Interview. Hated every single day for doing leetcode because it wasn’t the leetcode but the fear of interviewing at a previously rejected company that was fogging my brain.
I said to myself - I’m in control of my life. If I need that house I need a bigger TC, I maintained a sheet to see which problems I have solved, and put a crossed dates on calendar to see myself build a habit. It took me 3 months to prepare for Meta and here I’m with a 2x TC jump.
And work is really not that different from other companies. You are still clocking the same 40 hours a week and getting more money. Can you imagine making 2-3x more money for doing the same job?
You will know what to do next for yourself, and will be writing post bragging 1M TC
I am kinda totally lost now in my current profile and accepted a position with a matching salary even after working 3 years in a similar role, I kind of hate myself for accepting all because of some $$.
Anyways I can't change past I've to just start prepping up on LCs and follow other advice inline :-).
You know what to do, getting started is the hardest part.
