If there is any company that deserves this. It’s boeing. Compare Boeing ceo salary to Airbus ceo salary. That should tell everything. Not a fucking dollar should go to Boeing bailout.

You prolly are right. I would rather fund NASA like to develop our defense industry rather than depending on private sector for such a critical industry.

Are new hires affected?
Generally if you haven’t finished your first year you won’t be pink slipped yet because nobody can really evaluate your retention. > 1 year and all bets are off.
For manufacturing, it probably does affect new hires. My husband is manufacturing, understanding is that layoffs are seniority based per unions policy (very likely different than engineering). Last time he was laid-off, I think <1 yr.
