Because of my personal circumstances, I am looking into settling down in LA/OC area. I looked for past Blind posts on this subject and the only answer seemed to be Snap.

I know most of FANG and similar top companies have small offices in the area but I was wondering if there are any great companies headquartered in the area.

Not important but personally interested in startups. I can only recall Honey off the top of my head atm. People say Silicon Beach has a lot but when I looked through the list, I've never heard of most of them...

Does anyone know any great companies to work for in LA/OC area?

For background, I'm a SWE for 2 YOE

    Try for a remote position. Instacart, shopify, etc. have remote positions

      I am also looking into it but I'm very unfamiliar with the team transition process at google and got the notion that it may be tough

      It's typically pretty straightforward. Check go/grow for postings. There's a casual chat with the hiring manager to see if it's a good fit. They'll probably ask for access to your perf, but as long as your CME+ (preferably EE+), you should be good.

    I find it funny how you said you want to work at a startup but mentioned that you didn't know any on the Silicon Beach list. At the end of the day, it's LA. Almost none of the coolest, most legit startups will be in LA. You'll have to go to NYC, Boston, or the Bay Area for that.

    There's Tinder, Bumble, Hulu, and Snap. If you're not interested in any of those, and you aren't willing to downgrade from Google in terms of TC, a remote position is probably your best bet.

      You're right that I should lower my expectations. I would be down to work at those places but I've been unsuccessful in my applications for some reason. I'm guessing they are looking for more senior SWEs.
