I'm mostly interested in hearing from folks in sysadmin or operations type roles.

I already have roughly 10 years of experience working with Linux.

I'm exploring the possibility of getting the Oracle Linux certification.

So I'm wondering if adding this certification to my resume would have much of an impact on my employability and/or earning potential.

  • Not much value in my opinion. If you want to get certified I would focus on the cloud (aws) if not already

I'm in the Oracle PaaS/DBaaS support team at Oracle so over the next year I'm going to be getting intense exposure to Oracle cloud stuff. I'll be focusing on that instead of AWS cert. Plus AWS is proprietary.
      Oracle Linux mostly is not.
Yes it's technically an Oracle product but the majority of knowledge required to pass the test also applies to Red Hat and other distros. So in that sense the skills gained are not for a proprietary product/technology.

AWS Cert is good, it will help you understand Oracle Cloud better IMO too.

I have no doubt about that. But I would have to pay a pretty penny for that.
Plus oracle's already got their own cloud certs, which I could get for 100% free.

Also wondering which is more valuable.
    -- Linux certification OR
-- High proficiency in Bash scripting

Of the two, which would be a better use of my time, in terms of RIO?
