First job out of college as an SDE at Amazon. Been here about ~10 months. Recently several offers from some non FAANG companies (e.g. Autodesk, SAP, Salesforce) for a $60k increase in annual TC plus better benefits and vesting. ($35k more base, $15k more stock, $11k extra annual bonus) They need me to start as soon as possible, meaning before the year mark (can't push this out). Is this worth the jump? $60k per year seems like a lot of money to me, but i'm a bit worried about less than a year tenure on my resume. My current manager doesn't plan on promoting me to L5 until the 2-3 year mark, so it'll take a while to hit this TC at my current role. Current TC, $175k
If that company has a significantly better culture than amazon (e.g. company review on blind is 0.5 higher than Amazon), that alone worths the jump. Also most of your amazon RSU will be vested in your 3rd and 4th year, so the stock growth doesn’t matter much unless you intend to stay for 2 more years.
Do company reviews on blind matter
Wait till end of 1 year and jump. Keep interviewing at other places and play offers up.
OP’s tagged company checks out. 👍
Been at Amazon a few years now... I would’ve taken a pay decrease to be in your position in hindsight
How quickly the company is growing? That will have implications on your career growth (orthogonal to new TC at offer), chances of meaningful promotion, and ultimately your future TC in the longer term.
