11 yoe and am being recruited for this AWS sales role. It is not a partner ISV role, but enterprise sales role, customer facing. They are hiring for L7, could start me as as a L6. Have call with hm next week and loop likely following week.

Any feedback on the role? ISV throws me a bit but everything I’ve read seems good. It’ll be managing 5-10 FIN/HC accts within the ISV segment. Comp expectations? Any tips besides STAR your experiences towards the LPs? Do I need to know AWS inside and out?

Tc today $350k

I just went through a L6 sales loop this week. Waiting to hear back. It was more difficult than I expected to weave my sales experience in there, so I'd look up some of the more common questions asked and practice that. Felt there was a theme to understand my experience in matrixed environments (customer stakeholders and aligning internal resources), risks and decision making I've taken in deals & navigating internally and why I made the choices that I did, how I came to that, what data did I use to come to that, what I would have done differently. In the loop not a lot of specific AWS questions, but I did have a more "technical" round where I was asked what AWS product I was most excited to sell and why, and to give specific examples of technical conversations that I could have on my own without assistance.

Not sure if you have interviewed w/ AWS before, but you will get asked LPs in addition to functional role related skills even in the HM phone screen so I would be prepared. I did also get asked about AWS services in my phone screen, but mostly to know that I've done research and could name off a couple.

If the recruiter hasn't given you prep advice for the phone screen, I would honestly ask them what they would recommend you review to put your best foot forward. My recruiter gave me a ton and I honestly came way overprepared to the phone screen but it helped me for the loop anyways. If you make it to loop, the recruiters will hold a prep call where they'll go over what you need to know. The advice that they gave in that call really did serve me well in the loop and I got a lot of head nods, good example, etc. type comments. Best advice was to really stay focused on customer outcomes when talking in your stories. All good and well that you closed a big deal but what did that mean for your customer.

I was told to be prepared to know S3, EC2, ELB, Route53, CloudFront, Redshift. Value props, key features, competitors. I picked out 3 other services to know in the back of my mind that I found interesting and was enough to carry me through the rounds.

Mine is L6 Greenfield Enterprise, interviews all went well but who knows, decisions out of my hands at this point.

      Fingers crossed for you!

My recruiter has been all over the place. She is clearly reading from script. Of our three calls, twice she brought up an incorrect position. So kind of feel like I’m on my own here. I have another recruiters email but don’t really want to go over mine (since she introd me to the hm).

She just focused on the LPs and story’s. But yeah didn’t say anything about specific services. Shoot.
