I just got hired as an Associate Account Manager for their advertising side and am excited for this opportunity. However, at the same time I am nervous as I have been hearing so much negativity in regards to working in Amazon. Any Amazon Account Managers who have insight to the day to day?

Advice:
-Be clear about how much you can take on. People will pile on until you let them know your plate is full. If you never say stop, expect the Brazilian BBQ of projects to just keep coming!
-You speak for all of Amazon when working with customers. It isn’t right, but know that you have weight behind you in your interactions and use it wisely.
-Sometimes things suck. A lot of what you read on here is true. I’ve found that it’s crucial to have a small group of people you can trust to work through things with. I’ve also found that your group needs to keep things in perspective; too much negativity will just drag you down.
-Use Amazon like they will use you. Build your experience, learn new skills, take on absurd projects (where the outcomes are often larger than the entirety of what other businesses do in a year), and then go elsewhere when the time is right for you.
The sales/AM side of the business can be a 6-figure call center, but embrace it for what it is and you won’t be upset!
