I was contacted by a hiring agency for an interview with Altimetrik for a Java developer role. The location is Detroit. They are offering me $95K plus benefits. I know this isn't much but since the location is Detroit, it seems alright. I wanna know, how is the work culture? Is it worth going there? Would this be the wrong choice? I am asking this even before starting the process since I wanna make an unbiased decision and also do not wanna waste anybody's time by simply interviewing and then rejecting the offer anyway. #altimetrik #interview Current TC: $100K - New York
No
Who?
YOE? You can DM for referal to EPAM, you will get a better deal and you might not have to also move from where you are right now. Lot of options in East coast.
I know you weren’t really asking about the city but I feel like I have to say that Detroit gets a bad rap. 20 years ago that was deserved but it has come back in a big way in the last 5-10 years. Not a bad place to live at all IMO. Also, 95k in Detroit is far more money than 100k in NYC.
Yup Detroit has been on a major upswing since 2011 or so. Reminds me of early 90s Seattle.
VMware has an office in Detroit?
To be honest if you’re only making $100,000 in New York City I think the $5000 reduction and I moved to Detroit is going to significantly improve your leaving experience
Altimerik is a better consulting firm closely works with Ford. If you are in a smaller consulting firm you can plan for a move
95k benefits in Detroit = 250k Seattle
How?
this is overestimated
Always interview. If you don't like the team or the salary you can decline. It's better to interview than not. I know it seems like a waste of time, but in reality it isn't. Also a lot of companies are flexible with remote work now so you might have a better chance to move around
I heard yesterday from a friend that they have the worst interview process. They never get back and very very slow. Good luck

Why not find A remote job that pays more, and then just move to Detroit This might help. https://www.quora.com/What-is-your-review-of-Altimetrik
LOL yeah. But that is not so easy given my visa status. And yeah I saw that Quora link. And asked this question after that since I got scared. Currently, I m fine where I am. No complaints.
Yeah, OP do you have a reason for Detroit specifically?
