Should I fill this in, or am I just negotiating against myself? I would be targeting an L5 Product Manager role. I would like to get $180k base and $400k RSU (over 4 years), but not sure if that potentially sways the committee somehow? I don’t want to go to high and have them not extend an offer, nor do I want to go low and screw myself. Advice is appreciated!

Edit: current TC at 250, YOE 5

  • Why wouldn’t your expectation be “market?”

Seems high, but tbh I haven’t worked at a proper tech company before so I am new to these kinds of comp numbers. Says 180k a year in stock alone. Is that right?

  • You should go 20% higher than what you really expect. No comparisons would pull the offer bc you ask a lot more

If it’s Google, and you’re forced to enter a number, you should enter the high end from levels.fyi. But if the field accepts free form input, just put “market”.

Also, do not accept any offer without at least attempting to negotiate. I know the numbers on levels.fyi seem high, but they are absolutely real, and you should pick out [at least] the median as a target and really try to get that.
