I have mostly read negative reviews about working in the Microsoft Azure team, right from team politics, old technologies, to bad WLB. I will be starting my work with the Azure team in the coming months as an SDE I, so I was wondering if someone could shed light on some really good stuff, apart from Azure being a great cloud platform.

It's incredibly fast growing and profitable so great for your career in general. Do you want to be a manager then it's the only org willing to hire enough new engineers to let you manage. In general it's also the easiest org to get funding for projects in general.

Azure is a very large org, you will need to be more specific to get good advice.

In general on call in Azure is bad but it varies by team a lot.

    • In the annual wellness checkup a doctor told me once Azure people tend to have a high Blood Pressure compared to the rest of the org. I believed him.

  • High growth if you are in the right time and right team.

  • Speaking of Azure C+ E, most of the teams are migrating their services to Azure. There is a dual work of maintaining the old service along with running it in Azure with new security deadlines. I’ll be careful of joining such groups.
