My friend did a MS in Yogic Sciences and Holistic Medicine, and followed by that MBA in US in entrepreneurship specialization. He is good at numbers, analytical thinking, and interpretation skill sets. He wish to be a life coach help people with their health issues and earn fame/money in wellness industry while keeping a work-life balance. He is thinking to advance his career as currently he is not that satisfied with the current wellness job (no growth/learning opportunities in current work place and not a good environment). I am reaching out to all using this platform to help him a piece of advice for career move rather it be a PhD or field switch?
If he decide to pursue a PhD what field would end up a good career. Any thoughts on PhD in nursing, Psychology, Nutritional Sciences etc..
If he wish to switch jobs what industry he would be a good fit? He has an inclination for public health and he believes in alternative medicine and is good at communicating the health related suggestions to people.
He is on H1B so limited with job opportunities.
Thanks in advance

    • Maybe televangelist. They make big bucks. If he can master in Yoga too he can start franchising hot yoga ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธ

    • In India, Yogic science is the perfect blend of art and science of making others fool in the name of yoga, god, religion and make enormous money, then come to US and Europe and chill rest of the life.

Majority of blind folks are young and healthy, not interested in alternative medicine, not your target audience. You need to figure out what mid/old people want, those might be more willing to take this alternative path/ approach. All those coaches are in you tube now making tons of money, more than an mediocre or top SWE. I donโ€™t think you need PhD, because once you get this degree, there will be too many other coaches up there. More practically, get in touch with other coaches/ community; hire a business coach or anyone who knows how to sell online, google and watch your teammates YouTubers and just build your own business around this idea and probably your own brand.

Convincing an old person to accept traditional over conventional medicine could literally get them killed.

I think Psychology would be a good route. It is respected. He could focus on helping people with eating disorders or teach people how nutrition could help them with their overall health including mental health. Public health is very vague. I have a friend who studied that and struggled to find work. Overall the medical community is not so open to holistic health.
