I've about 15 yrs experience (not fully at yahoo) and currently make $214k with 25% bonus and 70k stocks/year) - total $336k/yr. I'm a generalist backend software engineer in the top 10% of my company in terms of performance. What can I realistically expect outside? Which companies will be able to match or exceed this kind of money? Thanks.

  • Facebook and Google, at the very least, can meet and/or exceed that mark of total compensation.

At level 6, which would be the target most likely given your background, Facebook could offer same base (you might have to negotiate up a tad, but with current base that should be very doable), 20% bonus, and 200k stock per year with a bit of upside possibility.

If you rock your interviews you might be able to get a level 7 offer (or if you're still in top 10% at FB you can get promoted there fairly quickly, in a year), and then you're going to be doing significantly better with a higher base, same bonus percentage, and even more stocks.

I'm not up to date on Google's current Comp packages but I know they are in the same ballpark.

Does anyone know if Apple can match? I'm assuming that It might be easier to get into Apple than fb or google.
