Here’s some update since the last post …
The recruiter got back to me eventually and we’ll sync later this week. Glad it’s not a black hole after all.
Thanks all for the comments / advice :)
================================
Interviewed with Chime couple weeks ago and am still upset with the process….
First step is a phone screen, once you pass, they will give you a take home assignment. I’ve had take home assignment in the past and honestly not a big fan of it cuz it’s time consuming. But for the most part, the take home assignment I did with other companies would allow you to present whatever you worked on during the on-site process so you can interact with the hiring team and talk about your work.
With Chime though - they will let you submit the assignment online - like a real assignment I got at college.
And I spent 6hrs on this crap. And submitted.
Then two days later the recruiter came back and told me I was rejected.
Thanks for the update. I was wondering if you can share with me some feedback since I spent a good amount of time for the assignment? Anything would be really appreciated.
Of course. No response from the recruiter.
Then I contacted the hiring manager’s EA (don’t know hiring manager’s email) with a very polite email and asked if he can kindly spare 10min with me to provide any comments. Whenever works for him.
No response.
I’m not upset with being rejected by Chime. Things happen and maybe my assignment didn’t meet their standard. But I am truly upset by the fact that they’ve showed very little respect on a candidate’s time. Like the near one day of work someone put in in the process just got flushed into the toilet.

It is reasonable If you are asked to submit a write up based on a project you’ve done or perform some data analysis on some data they provide to you, so long as you are guaranteed to have a chance to discuss it during the on-site with an interviewer.
Otherwise submitting an assignment to a black hole is a bad practice that should be retired for good. It discriminates against those who don’t have all weekend to spend on the assignment (care giver to kids or elderly) with no upside.
People at chime are really good and humble.
So sorry about your experience but it may be one off.
You may escalate that to next point of contact you know.
Also, feedback does not necessarily have to be the reason for rejection. Reason could’ve been “we went with better candidates” (since giving too specific reasons might create legal risks).
