I have offers for both Google and Facebook and feel like I’ve made my decision already but I wanted to post this in case there is something I’m missing or not taking into account.
Google L4
Base: 145k
Equity: 235k / 4

Facebook E4
Base: 155k
Equity: 300k / 4
Sign on: 40k
Year 1 TCs are basically the same. Google’s obviously doesn’t increase the same way Facebook’s will in years 3 and 4 but should rise slowly with refreshers. However, Google also has an on-call bonus that isn’t included in TC. Google’s guaranteed bonus is also 15% while Facebook’s is 10%.
Google’s equity seems low to me and that is the only thing I really don’t like as much.
MCOL (a little lower than Austin) for both but Google is also slightly lower than Facebook. I was told that these are max offers for the areas.
I like the team I matched with in Google and see a clear path for progression. Obviously Facebook has faster progression in general but I also don’t care for having a ridiculous amount of stress with it. On top of that, my wife and I are wanting to start a family in the next year or so, so I’m definitely going to be valuing WLB.
