Been at Apple for 3 yrs. Tired of my daily routine. Time to decide whether or not to leave.
Then got an offer from Roblox:

Base: $173k
RSU: 15k unit / 4yrs (hr said the initial price targeting $25, which I doubt about..)

Been keen on game dev and CG for yrs. Other offer: waiting for Google's team match but it takes forever and it's only L3(I did the interview early this year). Should I accept Roblox's offer then..?

    They are using a future value for their rsu. So when comparing with another offer you should also use an expected value after 4 years to compare.

      You use the price difference (current valuation/preferred price - 409a strike price). This is โ€œhow much I get if the company was sold today at the current investor valuationโ€. Please chime in if thatโ€™s not accurate.

      Itโ€™s ok. There are more companies nearing IPO. Pick carefully. My take is, youโ€™ll never get rich working at FANG. Need to take some chances.

      Yeah why did you reject it? 2 months ago is Jan 21, and you should know itโ€™ll go ipo soon and the price was $45 at that time based on their series H funding. If you reject it a year ago, that makes sense to me cos nobody know when itโ€™ll go ipo

    The feeling I got from people that worked from Roblox was meh but take that with a grain of salt. I believe they code in .NET so that may be a plus. Depends on what you are looking for really. The company is valued at 4 billion and backed by Horowitz so that is a good sign.

  • I heard they recently all changed to rsu, and they adjust each yearโ€™s rsu based on the price of that year? Sounds like a rip off and employee get 0 benefit if stock goes up. Some one may argue it is stable when goes down, if there is, there are lay offs.

      Youโ€™re saying the total # of RSUs isnโ€™t fixed when you gets the offer and changes each vesting period based on the target $? Can someone confirm?

      Not sure where youโ€™re getting this info? It should be pretty standard, your RSU is calculated after you start... it doesnโ€™t adjust every year..
