    What’s the point of this thread? Seems condescending. Just wait 5-10 years when the software industry is bloated with every Tom Dick and Sally that got a CS degree and the US is paying EMEA salaries for CS.

      It’s not BS. Wait till NewHire3.0 gets a promotion. SWEs get paid ridiculously higher than non-tech folks. It’s primarily driven by supply and demand. And being in Bay Area causes the difference to be bigger. For an apples to apples comparison of this sort compare comps of non-tech Bay Area workers to tech workers and the difference is still about 30-40%.
