After HC Review they told to conduct one more coding interview round for me.
Also I have not Leetcoded after my last round of G onsite which was in September, So kind of lost that momentum and motivation for problem solving.

Do I need to completely ace this one to Pass HC?
Looking for tips in preparation if I have only 1 week?
Will I be judged only for the areas where last interviewer pointed weakness?

In my experience interviewing at Google, they usually do not give another round to candidates that got mixed signal or who they feel are borderline, they simply reject.

What might've happened is one of your interviewers messed up and gave crappy/contradicting notes, so the hiring committee can't make a good decision. In that case, your next interview will just be another signal in the hiring committee.

  • @AQR You would need to Ace this round. For coding that basically means you have to reach the optimal solution with minimal hints. Interviewer will expect you to write bug free code. Dry run your code with test cases particularly edge cases before interviewer points out bug in your code.

One of my friend also went through similar process. One more round after HC review. The focus of this round was on the weak point from previous rounds. And the expectation will be the same as initial rounds. Optimum solution with speed.

  • Not in Google. But 1 more round generally means that there were contradictory signals from previous rounds. For example 2 interview could be Strong Hire, 1 Leaning Hire and 1 Leaning Reject.

    • 2 lean hire is out of 4-5 is not generally clear cut hire. It generally depends how strong other interviewers feel abot you. A clear cut hire would be 3 Hire + 1-2 Strong Hire. Lean Hire is basically saying I'm OK if this person gets offer if others feel strongly about him/her.

    • I suppose but I just feel like with one strong hire and a hire it'd be good enough. I guess Google standards are very high. I faced a similar thing recently unfortunately at Dropbox and got rejected :(

I have also been through this before as well, there are two possibilities. One is that thereโ€™s mixed reviews from the interviewers, and the other is that there isnโ€™t many headcounts left.

In my case, that additional coding interviews is a design challenge for me and itโ€™s conducted by a more experienced interviewer.
