I want to invest 100k for long-term. Is wealthfront/betterment a good idea or should I invest myself in index funds.

I would suggest investing it yourself. Get an account in Vanguard and do dollar cost averaging over a period of many months.

The portfolio mix can be as basic as following the 'Random walk down the Wallstreet' recommendations in portfolio mix. Split at some percentage between Large cap, mid cap, small cap, international, and real estate. The real problem is not in finding the portfolio mix but actually sticking to it over many years atleast 1 decade to see its benefits.

Don't overthink it, just buy VOO, VTI or VTIVX (automatic rebalance), depending on risk appetite, and hold.
