Getting bored in a Systems Engineer Role

Hey everyone, I'm a contractor at Cummins, earning peanuts with no bonus/RSUs in the middle of nowhere near Columbus. WLB is good, I spend at the most 20-25 hours a week working, and the rest doing random projects. I am a Systems engineer - I do requirements writing for diagnostics and controls, and troubleshooting customer issues. I'm getting bored in this role (have been working here for 6 months as a fresh grad). I can code, took a lot of robotics classes in grad school, and have been brushing up on everything. I have also been brushing up on my Controls coursework, and am hoping to land a role as a Robotics Software Engineer with a better TC. I have a few questions:- 1) Would that even be possible with a background like mine? 2) What companies do I target? (I do have the major AV players in my list, but any other suggestions other than those?) 3) What kind of preparation should I be doing to maximise TC at this point of my life? (I am 26 right now)

Get a masters degree in robotics. You can do it while working. You can’t go into a robotics job with no job experience or degree.

Hey. Thanks for your reply. I do have a Masters in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Robotics. I also have quite a few robotics projects. I've been applying like crazy to all these robotics engineering roles, but haven't had any interviews yet. No clue what needs to be done. :(
