https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/twilio-ceo-announces-11-of-employees-lose-jobs-anti-racist-focused-layoffs Race should never be mentioned in termination, they fucked up big this time.
So basically only white males will be laid off. Not racist at all.
This is the same layoffs from last week right
Yeah OP missed the original post talking about this
You had one job and that’s what you decided to say lol
Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen
Surprised that this passed legal at all
It's probably technically illegal, but what court is going to issue that ruling?
Again I asked again, why do white and Indian males always get triggered the moment words like "Anti-racist", "diversity", "inclusion" Etc got mentioned?
Wow, so they're claiming those 11% were racist and oppressing others? Wow, good luck proving that
Good, woke white males getting what's coming to them
Lol if you think they're laying off people because they've been deemed racist, you can't read If you think only white and/or Indian males are getting laid off, you can't read If you think layoffs traditionally affect the workforce proportionately, you're delusional Feel free to argue amongst yourselves, that's all I have to say
please enlighten us with what “anti-racist” lens means. why not just layoff people based on performance?
Not going to argue with you but people seem to think layoffs are decided by computers. People are inherently biased and layoffs don't always adhere to performance based cuts. Also the feedback that potentially determines whether someone makes the cut was also entered by a human that's inherently biased. Two different people can exhibit the same behavior and one be called "aggressive" while the other is labeled as "effective"...it happens. Also they said anti racist and anti oppressive meaning its not just race they're looking at. People are treated unfairly on the basis of sex, gender, socioeconomic status, etc. I've been part of recruiting teams and I know it occurs. Not necessarily explicit but unconscious bias, it's a thing
Disclaimer, not involved in selection.. Essentially this: we need to cut costs in large segments of the company and aren't really looking at performance that much as a primary metric, but the impact of the team to the company as a whole and how much they cost us relative to how much revenue they generate. Then: did our manual process happen to disproportionately apply bias towards certain groups? If it did, review again. That's literally all. People here saying they selected based on race are stoking a fire they don't really know anything about.
Wow...this sounds insane
