Interviewing for a tech leadership role. Curious about culture and pay. Have checked Glassdoor and Levels and am seeing it’s base + bonus as far as comp. Can anyone speak to what would be a reasonable offer for a director/senior director there? Thank you!
CZI has fixed bands for their roles. No stocks, but as far as non profits go they pay tops EDIT: not a non profit but for “charities” or philanthropy the salary pay is high
Beware of CZI. They are NOT a non profit (look it up) however the recruiter told me on the phone that they were as an excuse for low comp and no stock. Do your research on that place.
What role were you interested in and what was the pay band they gave you for it? I don’t mind/care that it’s not a non-profit.
HA! They are presenting themselves as a scam non profit.
This is a good way to work for Zuckerberg without backlash
People were nice at CZI during the interview. Yes, as others mentioned Salary bands are fixed. No stocks. Looks like WLB is great. TC, you cannot compare that to FAANG or any other upside startup. No offer. But I had a decent interview experience for a Sr. Engineer role. Only complaint is recruiter isn't quick in response and ghosted me after I asked if i can get any feedback to improve myself after rejection email. Numbers offered by recruiter before interview are similar to ones in levels.fyi.
How was your interview experience?
OP, did you end up interviewing? How was the process?
Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI), LLC is the main operational funding vehicle/holding company for: ---- Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Foundation (a 501(c)(3) private foundation) ---- Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation ---- Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Advocacy, (a 501(c)(4) organization) Because of this setup, CZI can fund the non profits "at will" and for whatever it likes with zero scrutiny, oversight, or other impediments. It's a nice tax thing as well. CZI is also heavily involved with Zuckerberg's family office. A lot of folks from IT and security do stuff for the family office. There is a VERY clear and VERY thick dividing line between CZI and Meta for obvious reasons. Any co-mingling of the two would case major issues. Because of this dividing line, they do not use any of the Meta tools (eg Workplace, etc.). They use Google Business Suite (mail, docs, calendar) and Slack for messaging. The pay is decent for FTE's as well as for contractors.. as a CZI employee, you are essentially enabling the non-profits to do their non-profit stuff. If the non-profit needs a contract for X, then CZI handles it. If a non-profit needs Y then CZI handles it. They have every tool you can ever imagine because when one of the non-profits needs a tool, CZI will buy it. Their yearly budget is in the high nine figures. The place seems to be a dumping ground for former Meta employees. Numerous former Meta people floating around. my manager came from Meta and was, as an Asian male co-worker put it to me, a "stereotypical, overachieving Asian female who liked to take credit for everything." The management style was one of incessant micromanaging "work theater". The work was not very interesting in the least but was made to look important (empire building). Your mileage may vary. LOADS of politics at CZI and people trying to climb the ladder.
Quite a few old Fb people have left. I don’t know if you’ve actually worked here but I find very little politics in the org. Then again, im not a director and maybe it happens at the higher level

Why Worshipping Lord Ram Important in Hinduism?
Comp at foundations isn’t usually as good as tech. No stock
Indeed, but this one has unlimited funding so I wasn’t exactly sure.
