This response seems so odd from a company like Google. It’s like the big G is triggered by not having workers in the office. Is it that Googlers can’t be trusted to do their work? Is this a Google Cloud issue? What say y’all?

Google is accelerating partial reopening of offices and putting limits on future of remote work
comments
For a company that is famous for manipulating cafe lines to spark conversation you really didn't include WFH's affect on innovation and productivity. I believe that is probably the main reason.
AFAIK, in every FAANG there were partially or completely remote teams before the pandemic. I don’t see why they shouldn’t extend the possibility to everyone and let employees decide.
I’m also fine with a salary cut, which kinda makes sense if you live in a less expensive area.
Maybe it’s slightly more difficult for juniors, but personally (as a junior) I didn’t notice any difference. People hired in these companies should be competent enough to handle it, and they could put a mandatory 6/12 months period in office at the start (I already know companies doing it).
Also, there are successful companies like RH that have always been remote.
Either way, though, I don’t care if some people prefer going to the office... Let them. Just don’t force it on those that don’t want it.
