I am leaving the oil and gas industry where I worked in the supply chain/operations for 6 years. I’m no longer interested in the industry and am looking to get closer to tech.
An opportunity at Waymo came up for a non-technical role that I’m pretty certain I could succeed at but it’s something I really don’t have interest in. I considered the role due to the name/association with Google, opportunity to get closer to tech, and potential to exit opportunities closer to tech or transfer out of that role within Waymo. I’ve struggled to get any interviews from other tech companies and Waymo is the only one who’ve reached out.
Is it worth giving it a shot just to get a breakthrough to a tech company? Is a non-tech job at Waymo held in high enough regard within the industry that could help with my attractiveness to bounce elsewhere?
Any suggestions to break through to tech as a non-technical professional?

I don’t want to take the job if a non-technical waymo role doesn’t carry that much value to other employers. I would need to use it to break into the industry and find a new role with waymo or anyone else.
