they are NOT just a communication platform. they are NOT just bringing people together. they are deliberately fueling all dark corners of human nature in the race for βengagementβ and clicks. They got a pass while they were small/growing because doing shitty things when your survival depends on it can be rationalized away. continuing to do shitty things and literally endangering lives of people (with studies youβve done yourself that show that - and which you promptly ignored) is inexcusable.
I am also shocked how many people defend them. I guess when your job depends on not understanding something you will have a really hard time understanding.
You donβt need to be a drone that creates the tools that destroy our society. you have a choice!
you mention studies that βweβveβ done (not sure why you bucket me together with fb when I clearly donβt work there, but Iβm guessing in your mind all of us tech kids are the same). I was actually reading one of those studies the other day, unlike you obviously, and it pointed out that teenage girls who are struggling with well-being issues said Instagram made things better for 11 out of 12 issues.
it appears that you are following sensationalist media narratives instead of fact checking for yourself. and Iβm guessing that youβre now going to change your narrative to something like βfb canβt be trusted on their own researchβ, right after you tried to use their own research against them and failed.
