considering interviewing these days is so painful (thanks LC), which company is a better brand for career growth and also to help with future companies/roles?

Having netflix on the resume equally effective as fb ?

Not adding google as that may be a clear winner for many.

  • there's no difference between F and G when it comes to future opportunities as xooglers often end up at F (more than any other company). Netflix is just as good but smaller.

You should be applying everywhere though - interviews at these companies are hard. Can't afford to be that choosy

Well in the end all are same, what really matters is how you perform in interview. Did it make difference to have ebay on your resume when you were interviewing at these companies?

    • I used to have same thinking as yours but not anymore. I have seen people at G stuck at one level for years but others at smaller well known places rose to Sr.manager or director level.
Now would you prefer being L5 at google or Sr.manager or Sr.staff at LinkedIn?
So choose company where you think you can learn and grow.

Given only one on resume, I'd usually want to work with someone from N > G or F. It's a performance guarantee if they held at N more than a year.

  • G and F are not at the same level in terms of engineering quality. When we see an E5 applicant from FB it's usually 50/50 hit or miss. Some of them know their stuff but some don't know more than a few leetcode questions, with their 3~5 yoe, probably they just worked hard or got lucky with a growing team. However an L5 candidate from Google is almost always an experienced veteran, well versed all around skills from technical decisions to political games.

Dropbox pays way more than G even after stock drop. At least that's my experience. I wanted to leave for a while, but it's hard to beat Dbx TC for same level. Also wlb is awesome.

    • I don't think it's surprising or unreasonable for a smaller company to pay more than GF. Airbnb, Stripe, Lyft, Snap all pay more than GF
