EPM/TPM roles - h1b visa

May 3, 2020 6 Comments

Is it easy to get h1b transferred from an engineering role (in Company 1) to EPM (Engineering Project Manager) or TPM (Technical Project Manager) role (in Company 2) ?

Chances of RFE?

Please share your experiences.

Thank you.

Explain me why a project manager role requires an H1B?

untb is asking why a *PM could justify an LCA. There’s plenty of those out of work already in the USA.

    • There might be plenty from every domain who might be out of work.
And I am not defending for either of the roles. The question posted is how it works when a person wants to move from an engineering role to EPM/TPM role.

Since it doesn't require as much "special knowledge" it is hard. Both in terms of recruiting and immigration.
To be honest though, most engineering that we do in big tech shouldn't really qualify as specialized. A motivated college grad can learn these skills in 6 months.
