A lot of our colleagues in India face the 90 day or 60 day notice periods. Some say it is beneficial as it allows you to look for competing offers and pick a better job offer for the next switch. Others believe these are a hurdle, as fewer companies would be willing to offer you jobs in the first place.

My company had 90 days notice period and manager refused to buyout. I did nothing during the notice period I didn't even joined the calls just responded to emails saying I'm working on it, it's a quarter waste for me and employer.

Most companies have 30 days and also other company can "buyout notice period". I only served 15 days after resigning. Of course for this manager has to agree first.
