Yelp has several types of these alerts whenever a biz gets review bombed. The alert always provides a summary of why it's getting review bombed. Review bombs are also edge cases. Never mind nuance tho usa today fake news media.
In fact if people try to bomb these businesses, these kinds of alerts and temporary ban on posting reviews protects the businesses from fake reviews. Also, any extortion related news out there is completely untrue. Courts have always ruled in Yelp’s favor, as Yelp does nothing like that. Haters gonna hate
Purely anecdotal but my buddy’s roommate was in sales at yelp. He would have multiple accounts and deliberately leave negative reviews before pitching solutions that would clear (or hide?) those types of reviews up.
Not saying the extortion scheme was true, but Yelp employees have 100% used the platform dishonestly to force restaurants into uncomfortable positions
