Amazon new grad

Asking for a friend,
What type of work do the new grads get ?
Do they give time to settle into the team or do they go blazing guns ?
How often do they use DSA concepts in their regular day to day work

Thanks

Expect about 3 months to onboard. If your team is good you will get the first few weeks to do your embark tasks that contain all your standard company on-boarding, introductions to your orgs tech and your team services, Amazon tools, etc. within a couple weeks you will likely be assigned some initial tasks. Hopefully your team gives you something easy, but should allow you to learn more about how the service works, how to test and use the dev tools effectively, etc.

DSA work completely depends on what you’re doing, surprise surprise but software engineers don’t sit around doing leetcode like problems all day within their code bases.

You’re given 3 months to onboard. Some teams may expect contribution in about 2 weeks, but it wouldn’t be anything too big. If it is something that seems like they’re expecting you to be an expert in less than 3 months, I’d advise changing teams.

  • I’ve heard they PIP you the first week just so you get used to it. Doubt they use any major DSA concepts
