Some Tesla owners club posts about Tesla closing some service centers in Europe and Asia. Is this true? Why now, didn’t they just start selling model 3 over there?

Also heard there was a significant amount of performance related firings a few weeks ago that are on top of the 7% layoffs announced. Like several percent more people. Can anyone confirm that?

Is there something big going wrong at Tesla?

The US tax credit is expiring. So all Teslas are now $3,750 more expensive, without Tesla having done anything. Soon, they’ll be a full $7,500 more expensive. In order to stay price competitive, Tesla will have to cover the gap. (Transferring it directly to the consumer will impact sales volume.) given that a Model 3 is $46k, and profits on a Model 3 are probably ~10% at best — this means Model 3s will need to be manufactured and sold at a material loss, given the current cost structure. Alternately, Tesla needs to magically increase per unit profits by several hundred percent, to cover.

If Tesla had had strong fundamentals going into this policy change, it might not be a huge deal. But they didn’t, and this came too soon for the maturity of the business.

Tesla could only survive in the vacuum of a liberal government.

Huge dick, I truly have no idea why you are incensed. I have provided an argument based on numbers. You claim that in the future, Tesla will make more profits. Okay. That still doesn’t address the $7,500 incentive and its effect on cost structure.

If I had to guess, you’ve taken my objective comments as a proxy for “I voted for trump.” You’re fucking wrong. My argument has no political agenda or value judgement, merely an observation about numbers.

Wrong numbers, where did you arrive to 10% profit on m3? Assumptions when numbers are easily available are not assumptions just lack of work

The only way Elon can build a $35k Tesla at the moment is if he hire some illegal immigrants to assemble it and kick them out without pay.
