Just accepted an offer at a decent tier 2/3 company. They upleveled me to a senior dev, where I would really consider myself to be a mid-level dev. I'm scared I won't be able to perform at senior dev. Manager also mentioned I'd have to provide mentorship....

What should I do to prepare and not get scared?

Work extra hours to learn the system as fast as possible so you can contribute early on. Socialize your work and be proactive in giving your opinions on PRs, in meetings, etc. Listen to podcasts, watch YouTube videos, read books to learn about new technologies and approaches you can apply to improve your teams tech stack.

Ramp up efficiently - as fast as you can while learning about internal tooling as much as you can. That way you can at least help juniors ramp up and look like a rockstar πŸ’«

Similar situation, but I’m in the latter stages of the interview process for a director level position of well known company, but not a major corporation in the realm of any FAANG company.

In the back of my head I know I’m really going to have to grind and up my knowledge in some areas. But at the end of the day, if the company sees me as their guy, Im not going to be the one to back down from it.

What’s the worst that can happen? You go back being a mid level? So what? I only see upsides
