I've been offered both SWE internships at Salesforce and Microsoft. In talks about obtaining a full-time offer from Microsoft (2023 grad), but I wanted to know Blind community's opinion. I prefer WLB and learning/growth (at least for my first few years of new grad)... I hope they're not mutually exclusive :')
Salesforce:
- Team within Experience Cloud org.
- Backend API work.
- option to work in either SF and Bellevue office.
- $50/hr + $9000 post tax housing stipend (both locations). (Annualized to ~140k if the TC ppl care)
Microsoft (Returning intern):
- Microsoft Teams, new team with high impact full-stack work. Enjoyed working with ~half the team.
- option to work in hometown. Half the team is distributed in Redmond and Canada.
- WLB was not the best during internship (~40 hrs/week), but learned a lot.
- $47/hr, $2333/month housing, $400/month transportation, 5k return bonus for main office Redmond offer (~135k TC annualized).
- peanuts for Vancouver intern offer, but can pretty much WFH permanently.
- Have a chance to negotiate L60 if I choose to return intern. (Is it possible to get L60 as a one-time intern with competing internship/offer?)
