Im checking various non-tech roles @ Google. I get that both Partnership manager and account manager (as well as a few other roles like agency lead) are all part of Sales dept but having a hard time understanding the differences.

Could anyone at Google help me understand them better, so I know which is more of a fit for me? It's a dream company for me, so I want to be strategic.

Ty in advance!

I work in Partnerships at Google, and these terms are used somewhat interchangeably (also depends on the org you’re in). The partner manager role is similar to the typical “account manager” role; they manage relationships with clients and act as the Google point of contact for these businesses. You’ll see lots of different terms and roles thrown around.. “account executives” or “enterprise account executives” are more sales focused, whereas “partner managers” manage and grow existing relationships.

Happy to answer any specific questions, feel free to DM.

      May I have one question?
I am going to HC for account manager role next week,
so now filling it a document about expectation salary etc.
I guess tech HC is picky... but no ideas about non-tech HC.

An account manager works with existing customers to drive revenue through expansion and renewal of current services (Direct Sales)

Partnership Managers drive revenue by working with 3rd parties(partners) who either resell or implement your companies services(Indirect Sales)

Respectfully, if you’re asking this question here, interviewing for a technology sales role is going to be an uphill battle, especially at google. I’d suggest doing a lot more online research and reaching out to a friend who works in the enterprise tech sales space.

    Best of luck!
