- fill out the profile completely like write career summary, add skills, upload a clear photo, add education, etc. Very important if youโre technical to add skills and write in your summary what you do
- make sure you make your profile for the role you WANT not the role you currently HAVE. If youโre a teacher looking to become a SWE then market yourself as a coder and not a teacher. Recruiters will use specific search words so be easily found
- activate LinkedIn premium only for the time you are job hunting then deactivate once you get a job. It helps with being searchable and pushes your applications to the top of the pile. Itโs expensive but worth it
- engage with LinkedIn content, donโt just be a spectator. Like articles, comment, post, etc. it increases your visibility 10x and will pull your profile from obscurity
- add all your colleagues and classmates. The bigger the network, the better the reach
Got my dream job from LinkedIn so itโs important to me. Only thing I donโt like is too many personal unprofessional bull shit type of posts these days.
That is a common problem. Your best solution would be to ruthlessly unfollow such people who add no value (no, they won't get a notification that you unfollowed them). And actively follow people who post valuable content - like CEO's, VC's, senior tech executives. Basically anyone whose content matches your interests. You will find tons of such people. I promise that.
