Using one weekend for the take home project, then get the HM phone screen, first part is behavior questions and second part is coding, personally I think the process is smooth, I finished the coding without any issues, then get a system auto email saying go to another candidate, really? So quick? just finished the interview 3 hours ago, unbelievable company and HM, totally wasted my time.

    You probably did something wrong during your interview. Maybe test coverage, maybe coding standard, maybe variable name style, maybe you implemented wrong algo. Or maybe in behavioral question you showed less experienced than what they'd like, or maybe there were redflags in your answer. Or maybe your interviewer just feel you are not a good match.

    So many things can go wrong in interview. Whenever I fail I ask myself what did I do wrong, there must be something that I'm in a I don't know what I don't know scenario.

    One thing to guarantee, you don't get a decline when they fill the position, you will be reroute to another team instead.

    Bottom line, interview is not "I think I did everything right so I'm entitled to next steps", just move on and do your best in next interview.

      It sounds like Redfin had already picked someone else. You may have been interviewed to fill an immigration or some other HR requirement. My partner has wasted several weekends on take homes and won't do them any more.
