    Levels.fyi for TC.
GCP is Google just by name. Culturally very away from rest of Google.
Growth point of view one of the fastest places in G to grow.

@Google Amazon is correct here. For a fixed level of interview performance - Google by far pays the lowest. Amazon/Meta/Snap/Stripe/Brex/Netflix will blow any Google offer out of the water atm (given same interview performance).

You don’t get the great wlb + no performance management of Google for free.

Still a fantastic place to work IMO, not everything Is about comp.

On an average case Google pays lesser as people still join it.
But the absolute maxes per level is definitely one of the best.

Same as aws. Faster promo and career growth, more oncalls, bad wlb.

    • @amazon its the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. Working on *any* cloud infra is good for your resume. It doesn’t matter if it’s aws gcp or azure.

You are objectively wrong. Good luck marketing yourself as an expert AWS consultant worth a big premium when you only have GCP experience lol. Sure for grunt jobs any cloud infra experience works. That’s not how it works when you want a side gig (and eventually full time) as self employed consultant charging $500 an hour.

True financial freedom is being your own boss.
